SIMA

The design focuses on the space between the objects that creates the imaginary space. Originating from the word 'Sima' the spaces for the ceremony of Buddhist monks are indicated by the 'Sema' boundary marker. In this context, our stools act as 'Sema' to create the space. The Stools can arrange into close forms, lines, etc. With the idea of the Modular System. With their simple form, the stools can fit in various spaces. The pattern was designed to connect on every side of each piece.
During the ceremony, if the monk from outside enters the 'Sima' space, he has to join the ceremony, otherwise, the ceremony will be void. The designers bring the concept of 'Sima' as the representative of culture and religion, to merge with the modern lifestyle which has many things in common. Moreover, the designers use the 'Gold gliding' technique to create a decorative pattern on Fiberglass material, reducing the roughness and blending craft into the modern lifestyle.
